Унедељу 5. октобра 2014 године Светом Архијерејском Литургијом и свечаним банкетом Саборни храм Св. Јована Крститеља у Сан Франциску прославио је 60-годишњицу освећења.
Свету Архијерејску Литургију су служили Његово Преосвештенство Епископ западноамерички г. Максим и Његово Преосвештенство Епископ новограчаничко средњезападноамерички г. Лонгин у зсаслуживање свештеника Слободана Јовића, Василија Цвијановића, Марка Матића, Зорана Савића и месног свештеника Ђурице Гордића. Такође, присутни су били о. Душан Буњевић и ђаконТрива Павлов.
Пре Св. Литургије у чин чтеца произведен је Дарко Вујетић који већ дуги низ година свесрдно помаже у олтару на богослужењима.

Поред великог броја парохијана, Литургији су присуствовали верници и из других парохија, Џексона, Лос Анђелеса, Мораге, Саратоге и Окланда.
После Свете Литургије, одржан је свечани славски банкет на коме су додељене Архијерејске грамате признања заслужним парохијанима.

Greetings given by His Grace, Bishop Maxim on occasion of the 60th Anniversary Celebration

Dear brothers and sisters, our beloved Children in the Lord,

Allow me first to express my profound joy to see you all gathered together for the celebration of sixty years of existence of St John the Baptist Serbian Orthodox Parish in San Francisco, California. For sixty consecutive years our parishes on the West Coast have testified to our purpose: to build and expand our Orthodox Faith on this blessed Continent, with determination, hope and Christian love.
It is my belief that only an organic unity between all the “charismata” or “orders,” in the Pauline sense of the word—the clergy and laity—can bring spirit and quality to this blessed country. The unbroken unity of the people of God and the voice that resonates the Eucharistic dialogue should be the mission of each parish, which it will achieve in a most superb way not as another objectified social structure—since the Church is not a democracy—but as a charismatic event of communion within the Church.
As an Orthodox bishop, I cannot but rejoice at the emergence of such voices principally when they stem from the inner being of the local Eucharistic gathering. If we want to do justice to the Church, we have to appreciate the laity, as those in fact who finally implement all progress and growth in the Church’s life.
When a priest is gifted with a charisma of the eucharistic transfiguration of the world then the faithful will become part of the process of reshaping of the parish life, rather than only being involved solely in Sunday gatherings. Ecclesial ethos is result of eucharistic and sacramental manifestations of the Church and of the cooperation between priests and the faithful. A parish that does not refer to the Person of Christ is a parish that refers to the corrupted world. Our attentiveness toward the existential realities of American life is the condition sine qua non of our authenticity. Only by an empathetic approach to the anxieties, sufferings, and problems of others, i.e., the neighbor of the Gospel, can we effectively bring the theory (theoria) of the new reality of inter-Orthodox relations on this continent to the light of the day.
May this Jubilee which we commemorate in San Francisco as well as the Commemorative Book marking the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Serbian Orthodox Parish of St John and the gathered documents and testimonies therein, remind us all of the zeal of our ancestors and guide us to the sacred goal of unity in Christ and His Orthodox Church.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This year we celebrate 60th Anniversary of our Cathedral. Measuring through the eyes of spiritual reality, true meaning of anniversary or jubilee is discovered in the everlasting eternity of God’s Holy Church. The Holy Scripture reminds us that “one day before the Lord is like one thousand years and one thousand years is like one day” (2 Petr. 3, 8)
The Kingdom of God begins at the Divine Liturgy, where past, the present and the future become one, and where time ceases to exist. All the people who actively participate in the Divine Liturgy by taking the Holy Eucharist, become one in the Lord. We all have this experience when we gather in our church to pray and worship God. Through the prayers we remember all those who dedicated their time and talents to build our church, those who had vision for future generations. We have to follow in their steps and continue good work of preserving and protecting our faith and our beautiful church here in San Francisco for our children.
The Orthodox faith is experienced as a unique cultural heritage of one nation. In its long history the Serbian Orthodox Church created an immense spiritual wealth on the principles of the Christian faith. Today when our parish celebrates 60th Anniversary our church testifies Orthodox Christianity of our people with great faith and culture. May God almighty help us and our generation to continue witnessing our faith in this city and this country!
May the Lord bless this great Jubilee of our St. John the Baptist Cathedral!

Драга браћо и сестре,
Ове године прослављамо 60то годишњицу освећења нашег храма. Ако гледамо очима духовне ствраности, прави смисао и суштина јубилеја и годишњице открива се у вечном трајању Свете Цркве Божије. Свето писмо нас учи да је “један дан пред Господом као хиљаду година, и хиљаду година као један дан” 2. Петр. 3,8
Царство Божије почиње на Светој Литургији, где се прошлост, садашњост и будућност тајанствено спајају и где границе времена престају да постоје. Сви верници који на Литургији активно учествују, примајући Свето Причешће, постају једно тело у Господу. Сви имамо ово искуство, када се молитвено саберемо у нашем храму. У молитвама се сећамо свих оних који су посветили своје време и таленте да саграде наш храм, оних који су имали визију за будуће генерације. Њиховим стопама и ми треба да идемо и наставимо сведочење наше православне вере, чувајући и унапређујући нашу цркву у Сан Франциску за нашу децу.
Православна вера се искуствено доживљава и као посебно културно наслеђе једног народа. У својој дугој историји, Српска Православна Црква је створила велико духовно богатство на принципима хришћанске вере. Данас кад прослављамо 60то годишњицу, наш саборни храм сведочи о вери и култури нашег народа. Нека нам свемоћни Бог помогне да наставимо свету мисију сведочења наше вере у овом граду и у овој земљи.
Нека је Богом благословен овај велики јубилеј нашег храма Светог Јована Крститеља!
